Portraiture - Piano Lesson

In this picture, I was trying to capture the mood of my granddaughter practicing her piano lesson while being as inconspicuous as possible. Turning off the automatic features of my Nikon D800 camera and going into manual mode was just what I needed. Adjusting manually, using only ambient light, I was able to capture that special moment.

I was humbled when this picture won 1st Place in Portraits during the 2013 Plaza Arts Center Photography Show.
